Drain off engine oil. How?
Hi there, I've done 1 oil change. From the original factory dino oil to synthetic. On the next oil change I would want to switch back to mineral base oil. I understand that normal oil change by draining the engine via the plug underneath will only drain off about half the oil.
So my question is how can I drain off the oil as much as possible? Thanks. |
I don't have the answer to your question, but I'm curious why you're switching back to dino oil? BTW, I'm using dino too!

You'll get the majority of the oil out the normal method. Getting any more would require tearing down the engine and getting all the oil out of the rotors and oil passageways, and getting the oil out of the oil coolers.
Really, no good reason to worry. Do a good oil change, use a good oil and filter, and you'll be fine. Dale |
The only other thing that you can do is break the lines to the oil coolers and drain them and the lines to the coolers. That is where the bulk of the oil is besides the pan. I don't have a manual here so I can't tell you how to do it. Sorry. Best of luck.

Thus, bringing me to the question of draining the oil as much as possible off the engine inorder to have a more accurate answer to the problem. Remeber reading in the forum here, the car holds about 7-8 liters of oil, where as during oil change, only manage about 4 liters, so a good half the oil is still remain in the engine... I'm not sure if the change of engine oil is really gonna help, but no harm trying. |

Did you use a quality brand synthetic oil (since you think it might be related to your oil)? Is possible you had a bad batch of fuel? Let us know how it gets solved. rx8cited PS: If my calculations are correct, then if you do 3 oil/filter changes, you will get rid of over 99% of the oil that's currently in your car. That may be less work than tearing your car apart and cheaper than buying a pump to get all the oil out. |
