The oil pressure gauge is pretty much worthless isn't it? On my FD, when it worked you could see it move as the RPMs rose, etc, although the sender kept getting gunked up. I'm not sure what to think of an oil pressure gauge that goes to a set spot and just sits there.

That's precisely where they sit.

Geez, you keep claiming to have read and searched, but you aren't doing very well! The question of the oil pressure gauge has come up dozens of times (don't believe me? Do a search for "oil AND pressure AND gauge" in this forum section. Along with the Flash threads, you'll find nearly a dozen specifically about the oil pressure gauge).

It's not an analogue gauge like pre-95 Mazdas (RX-7, Miata) used, it's an idiot binary gauge. Mazda switched back in 95 for two reasons - the sender and gauge head are cheaper, and they had too many people bringing in cars for service or calling support because they didn't understand how an oil pressure gauge was supposed to work with respect to indicating pressure at varying rpms and cold vs. hot!

Regards,
Gordon

I new when i wrote that ,it would come back to bite me. you are right i never did a search , but i have read this forum for hours in the last 16 days and just thought i would have noticed it in an earlier thread i had noticed my gauges where off but since they stayed in that position i never felt it that important to search ,so this thread did answer the question for me .
