DIY request. Sliding center console.

I know that a TON of people have the issue of the center console sliding forward when braking.

I feel like there needs to be a DIY for this!
Has anyone done this or know of a DIY?!

No I read that one. It's fix was literally to have it taped open... that is absolutely retarded. I am looking for a FIX not, a compromise.

That kinda sounds rude... I didn't mean it in a rude way

Here's a thread with better approaches, but no sure cure:

I never reported back that my fix (post #4 in that thread) didn't quite work. The tape kind of gummed up and slid out of place after a few days. I also suspect that if it had lasted the plastic would have just cracked and caved in further.

The lid sliding forward has turned out to not be a problem for me. If I've got a drink in the front cup holder, I usually have something (like my sunglass case) standing up in the back one. So I've yet to try my suggestion of putting some foam on the inside. Maybe some day when I have nothing else to do.

I actually opened it all up today and came up with a permanent fix to have it still sliding and everything, but it will now lock in place. Of course, not sure if it will hold up, but I am pretty certain it will. I will post a DIY after a few days if all remains working like it is now. The source was that broken tab thing under the console, ridiculously stupid design, but oh well.
