Diff in G-Tech and Dyno
Diff in G-Tech and Dyno
So what's the deal with G-Tech pretty much is my question... does it work good enough? If so why then why aren't the g-tech data good enough for the people that scream for dyno data?
There's the gtech competition, but there's also the gtech pro on ebay for $50... so just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of G-tech info :D

The GTech is not nearly as accurate as a dyno, as it makes an estimate of horsepower based on user inputs (like vehicle weight) and the performance it measures with a multi axis accelerometer. A dyno, on the other hand, measures exactly how much power is getting translated to the drive wheels. The GTech, and other comparable devices (and they all use the same technology and are effectively equivilent) are mostly useful for measuring changes in mods and as a rough guideline. Eg, you get one time stock, then when you turn on, say, and ECU mod, you get a better time. The delta between these is easy to pick out with the GTech. Hope this helps.
My friend has the cheapie one and it worked fairly well. You just have to make sure its level or the calibration will be way off. For $50 bucks you can't really go wrong if you are interested in mods.
