Probably a dumb question: I backed up and hit my front left fender on a pole. Fender will surely have to be replaced. What I'm worried about is whether a good body shop will be able to paint the fender (the bright metallic red) so it looks as good as new. I'm not sure what I can do about it, but if you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

A good body shop will gaurentee the panel will match and not fade a different color than the balance of the car as long as you own the car.

Only reputable firms will do this.

I know of two.

 

I don't suppose they're in Norman or OKC? There are quite a few body shops in Norman because of the "Mile of Cars" - dealerships for about everything. So, what you say is encouraging. I'll ask about a guarantee... Thanks - Jud W5JA

 

when you fix the fender they should blend the hood, door and bumper, so it should match.

 

Find out where Enterprise Rent A Car gets their cars repaired where you live. This will point you to the best body shop in town.

 

Thanks, all. The insurance woman we've dealt with for about 30 years (not the agent) recommended a local place, and that jived with some other people. They are blending with hood, door, etc.

 

It's not that hard to find the best body shops no matter where you live: 1) find out where Porsches, Jags, and BMW's get fixed, and 2) if you see any cool custom cars, or restored classic cars, ask the owner who did the paint job.
