I'm wondering if the 8 like most cars automatically turns on the A/C when you activate the defog function. If so, how come the A/C light doesn't light up? Or should it (warranty!). Or do I need to manually turn the A/C on as well?

 

the A/C comes on when the defog is turned on (if the outside temperature is above 32 F) or close.

It's normal behavior. Some cars have a way to turn the "auto A/C" feature off

 

But the A/C light doesn't come on. Is my light broken? But it comes on when I manually switch on the A/C

 

The AC light only seems to indicate that the driver asked for AC. The other functions are 'hidden'...

 

The computer turns it on when you sellect certain windshield/feet flows - it's even in the manual. Says the light won't show.

If you don't like it, pull the fuse marked A/C Clutch - the computer thinks it is still working, but it ain't.

OK i read the manual thrice.... i must've somehow dozed off in that section.

 

The AC won't come on if you put the selector into "full face" mode. That's what I normally use on those "bizzarre" occasions when want the heat on but not the air conditioning. :shrug:
