Custom Shift ****
I have a 8 ball from a pool table that I want to turn into a shift ****. The ball has some weight. It's black, like my car. And, well 8.
Does anyone know how this can be done? Can you thread the ball or Is an insert needed and where can I get this insert. What is the size tap needed for the threads?

Not sure what a real ball is made of but you can get this Voo Doo from Knobmeister.

yea...I don't know if a real 8ball would hold up in cars these days. I don't think it has the weight to it that it needs and I would be afraid that after you drilled the mounting hold that big that the ball would loose stability. Good luck though if you do decide to do it.

Most hardware stores have counter sinking thread bits just need to know the exact size of the thread. I use them all the time at my shop in our drill press they are a little pricey and it will be tricky to free hand a round object with out a good drill press
