Exclamation Cryogenic Tempering?

I was just wondering since our engine is known to run so hot would cryogenic tempering have any effects good or bad on the engine? What would the benifits or drawbacks be? I've tried searching for more info but I havent come up with much for rotory stuff.

I doubt it would have any effect on a street driven RX-8. With only three moving parts the amount of friction heat generated from a rotary is low. The heat comes from the inherent design of the rotary, all that energy being made inside a small space. Mazda address this with the use of oil coolers, side vents etc. I have been on this board since 2/2004 and have not read a thread about overheating so cooling on the RX-8 seems to be a area that Mazda did a good job on. Now doing this for the trans & diff gears ???

Ok i was just wondering because it sounds like if done properly it can extend the life of most parts.

cryogenic tempering is the process of strengthening metal by extreme temperature from hot to cold/ cold to hot very quickly within second (forging the material).. If you are thinking of doing this I would say DO IT.. I will asap... This should be the starting point of building a engine that will be Turbo'd.. Figure ie 3-5 x engine life in extreme performance / racing applications is worth it ..On a daily driver I cant help but think it would extend life of engine signifigantly. I wonder If someone has done it ... Any one do this???

Also finding out how these people build their 13B could be informative
