coolant sensor
New to this site. My coolant sensor light has been coming on. The coolant level in the car is fine. The car has shut down twice while driving. It has happened after this coolant light comes on. The temperature gage read that it is operating under normal temp. After the car shuts down it takes 10 minutes until it starts up again.
Any suggestions?

It's a common problem, the sensor is faulty. Two solutions: 1. buy a new coolant tank, very expensive. 2. disconnect the coolant sensor and keep checking the coolant level. I used option 2. works for me.
What year is your car?
I wouldn't think that the coolant sensor light (faulty sensor) coming on would cause the car to shut down.
I'm not convinced the two issues are directly related.

Usually, mine lights up only when i drive past 60 mph, then it will disappear only when i drive below 60. I heard this is normal, but i should have it checked just to make sure. Just to be on the safe side, check your coolant level and check for leaks. You don't want to be driving with no coolant at all, or your engine will be toast without it.
