CA Coolant light at high rpm's

When I'm driving my car seems fine but when i hit about 6000 rpm or drive for about 20-30 min my coolant light will turn on even if the coolant resivour is full. My car still seems to run okay but I'm still not sure why it is coming on so if anyone has had the same problem i could use some advice on what it could be?

Sensor going bad or losing pressure.

There's a TSB for the sensor going bad. If the level is fine it's most likely just that. Mine's been doing it for over a year & is fine. I just don't feel like buying the whole coolant reservoir, because the sensor doesn't come separate.

Haha yeah pretty much, so long as the level isn't low or go low. Mine's staring me in the face currently actually. Lol.

Just get a new coolant reservoir. I did, but haven't installed yet. Do it so that you can trust the warning light.

Whatever you do, don't tape it over with black tape. Because even if you were to check your radiator level before every ride, you still could run over a rock or something and experience sudden coolant loss. Only your warning light would alert you.

I've had something similar happen. I'm glad it's there and my light works properly.

You can pull the plug. It's right on top, easy to get to, and you can pull it halfway up so it's disconnected but still in its hole and not flopping around loose. I did that with mine, and it hasn't come on since.

Flies in the face of New Yorker's warning, but if I were risk-averse I would have bought another Honda. I do concur with his advice to not cover it with tape...that would look icky.

wrong. the sensor DOES come separate. you can buy it and replace it. Only problem is the Tank itself has to be the newer version, I think after revision E or F or G.

i want to get mine replaced.... but i dont want mazda finding out about my mods.

whenever the light comes on i just take it out of gear and coast for 1-3 seconds and it goes away. I imagine if there was a bigger problem the light would stay on for longer and i would pull off of the road.

Too lazy or cheap to replace the reservior? Do what Ken suggested. I did when mine stopped working.
How often do you look under the hood? Check it at the same time you look at your oil dip-stick!

You can look under your hood every day, and something catastrophic can happen in an instant.

What's your engine worth to you? I would hope more than $120. If your coolant does suddenly run out, and you don't know, your engine will be shot. Best to know if things get low, than to just hope day to day nothing happens. You bought a car that is relatively high maintenance. Take care of it, and it will take care of you.

Like a mod editing one's post?

Personally, I prefer to put in the maintenance effort and check under the hood on a regular basis, rather than sit back and expect a warning light to keep me informed.

That won't help you if a significant leak or catastrophic failure occurs, that's the real purpose of it.

I would agree with team..
last dec. @ a gas station, a lady asking me which coolant she gonna use on her car
because the coolant light is ON..to make the story short, i check her car and bang!...
something hit on the radiator and it punctured it..

when i bought my 8, i have this coolant light goes On and Off...I live with it ..
but when the weather getting warm, I will replace the resevoir tank..
part is on the way...

The best advise is too change it. I unplugged mine but that is my decision. Best advise is change your coolant tank.

The problem with unplugging it is if the coolant level drops such that the temp sensor is dry it will cost you an engine rather than a new tank

Good point. I have decided to look into another gauge that will give me water temp in degrees.

Hey guys I'm having that stupid coolant light coming on!! Coolant level is fine but sick of seeing the light!! Does anyone have any recommendation on fixing it? What is the best coolant resovour to buy?? How hard would it be for me to install it myself? I'm not mechanically inclined at all but want the light off!!!! Thanksssss
