coolant level question

Alright I just got my car this past weekend and this might be a dumb question but how do you check the coolant level. I looked over the tank but the way it is positioned i don't see a fill line. Also what is the best coolant to use? Is the prestone 50/50 mix good stuff. Does mazda call for a specific brand or type? Thanks for any help.

Mazda does recommend FL-22(long life coolant) which they sell, but you don't have to use that.
Consult your manual to make sure you get the right type and then take it from there.
Here's where to find the full line. Click or double click on the pic. It's on the left side and isn't easy to see, but don't overfill it!

I found it hard to see the coolant through the tank also. If you look closely (in the dark with a light) you can see it. I also noticed while looking into the tank with the cap removed the full level is at the bottom of a vertical slot.

It was next to impossible to see the level through the tank, I fiddled with flashlights, touching it to move it etc. etc.

In the end I had to find a way to get some approx. measures while looking through the top

All of our RX8's come with coolant level sensors. Its a red light under your oil pressure light that will come on. Sometimes if im reving it too hard for an extended time it comes on, but then goes right back off. If it comes on and stays on for more than 60secs, then it is truly low. And dont worry, the sensor cant be bad, if it is, your check engine light will come on and when you have your codes checked it will throw the coolant sensor code. If your light isnt coming on, you have nothing to worry about or check. Hope this helps.

I see many threads that disagree with this statement; here's one:
