BTW: Are you replacing the coolant or topping off? If you are topping off I wouldn't really recommend mixing coolants. If you are draining, make sure to drain, fill to the F on the collant res, run the car for about 15 mins with the heat on full blast (to get the coolant circulated through the heatercore and such. You will hear bubbling in the car, this is normal. After 15 mins or so, shut car off. Wait about 30 mins - 1 hour for the car to cool down. Open rad cap (becareful of the built up pressure), top off to F.

If your radiator cap or tank has a "FL-22" sticker, then go to a Mazda dealer and buy a jug of FL-22. That's Mazda's own brand of pre-diluted coolant. The parts guy might know it as "green coolant" rather than "FL-22".

If you don't have FL-22, see what color it is (green or orange) and get some of the same color. Mixing green and orange won't do any harm, but the color will be ugly.

All the FL22 coolant really is is long life motorcraft based coolant that is ethylene glycol based at a 55/45 mix. Basically the same thing as prestone. There is a huge coolant argument thread somewhere here that went through this. Only thing is that the Prestone is a 6yr/60k recommended change while the FL22 is a 10yr/100k change

There's a huge argument thread on every topic.

When I needed coolant, I went for FL-22 because of the 55/45 vs 50/50 mix, and for the 10 year lifetime. 10 year lifetime was moot, since I changed it after 4 years anyway. My usual practice with coolant is to buy Prestone and thin it to 50/50 myself.

if u wanna save a few bux, just get prestone/peak 100% Anti freeze, then mix it with 1 gallon of distilled water. and you will get 50/50

That's what I do all the time.

and wait until whatever brand go on sale, 2 weeks ago I saw a promo at autozone selling 2 gallons of prestone for like 5-6 bux after MIR.
