Compression isssues?

I live in Wisconsin and you all know how it gets here in the winter time. I have been told that in a cold climate atmosphere if you start up the rotary and drive it down the street (short trips) you will lose your compression. Does this mean that you have to keep the engine running for a certain period of time once you start it? Or is this just a rumor? If this is true then would this happen in the spring, summer? I figured that this was the best place to ask and get answers because the dealerships in my area will tell me anything to make me feel better and not the truth. Thankx guys.

Nonsense, just drive it like you would drive any other car. Earlier rx7s (some of them) were prone to flooding when shut down cold due to an ecu bug or leaky injectors although I have never experienced that personally.

All rotary engines should be brought to running temperature before being turned off. I've never heard of any exception to that rule.

The engine warms up really quick so a trip to the store is long enough for the engine to warm up. What you don't want to do is start the car and move it 100 feet then turn it off. That is when problems start to arise.

Always make sure you let the engine warm up fully.
