Clutch squeak... under the car?

Clutch squeak... under the car?
Hi,
I just noticed this morning that when stationary with engine off, depressing the clutch creates a squeak. So I thought "clutch pedal" right?
So the squeak is coming from outside the cabin, from under the car. Also the pedal was inspected by Mazda as part of the TSB last year and was fine. I just checked it out myself and everything seems solid, minimal side to side movement if I force it.
So.. a) is this normal and I just never noticed it? Does your RX8 squeak like this?
and b)... help me out.. what in the clutch system could squeak at all?
and c) is the squeak associated with a broken clutch pedal usually from the pedal itself or from elsewhere?
Thanks!

My clutch pedal used to squeak loudly and could be heard (even more so) in the engine bay. I sprayed the base of the pedal with WD40 and it has eliminated the squeak, but it may have contributed to my P0850 Neutral Switch Circuit CEL.
Normal? Not entirely sure but it's a very common occurrence with our cars. It could be the spot welds failing, or the spring rubbing the assembly. There's a sticky thread that talks about the clutch pedal failing. Give it a read.

Slave. mine groans when pedal 3/4 of the way down, but only with car up to temp.. Doesnt do it when raining and there are puddles.
Probably because i waited almost 60,000 mi to drain brakes. Fluid was black. bits of decomposing seal probably. Once i drained and bled all four corners it got much better. Didn't bleed slave, cant get to it. maybe one day soon...
Before anyone goes and screams pedal, no cracks, no side movement, was replaced 2008 or so. its not the pedal, not in my case.
Can you feel the groan/squeak with your foot as you work it?

Thanks, sounds exactly like that actually. If the car is cold, it won't squeak the first 5-10 pedal presses, but eventually it begins to squeak. Sounds like rubber dragging on something.
Can't feel it through the pedal, even with shoes off.
So what did you do eventually?

It's just one more little noisemaker in the cacophony of rattles and squeaks this car has

hey - mine does the same thing. I always thought "clutch pedal" but i have the pedal reinforcement and never actually had any pedal issues. And then a few weeks ago i was in a tunnel which amplified actual mechanical noises coming from under the car and I realized it was coming from under the car!! Also, it does seem to be present or absent depending on the weather...
Thanks for the description, it does, in fact, sound like the slave cylinder. I'm at 9 years and 120K miles, and on my second clutch. So I'm really just not gonna worry about it and fix it if it goes, that's life :-)

Mine does the same thing. The noise seems to be coming from the front left side of the car.
When I just start driving, there is no squeak. After about 10-20 mins, it starts and keeps doing it. It does stop after a while, maybe when everything is properly warmed up?
I also thought that it was making that sounds because of the pedal issue, but maybe it is caused by something else... mine is a 2005 with 57k KM
