Clutch question

This questions comes from a very non-mechanically minded RX8 owner.
My '04 is in the process of getting a new engine (I am having plugs, wires, coils, and fuel line replaced in the process since it will be parts charge only, not labor). Now for the non-mechanically minded question; since buying the car two years ago, it has had a very annoying 'chirping' with clutch out that I have been told is the release bearing. First of all, is that one part replaceable without doing the whole clutch, and secondly, is that something that should be done now with the engine out, or will that have no effect on having the engine out (labor charge, etc.)?
Thanks.

Anything you can change now would be a good idea and save on labor. Depending how many miles are on your current clutch you might even consider changing the whole thing out. Even if your current one lasts another 20k miles I think it would be a good idea to do it while the engine is out.

I agree. I just did my clutch. It's just a matter of another 6 bolts to change the clutch out while the engine and trans are apart. Go for it. It'll be worth it.

The clutch is removed from the old engine and installed on the new engine. Also the release bearing is accessible since the trans is off/out. I would change anything related to the clutch system (that you feel is worn) now to avoid future labor charges.
If the clutch is 75% worn,,, I would replace it now.
