OR Clutch Issue

Hi everyone, sorry if this has already been covered, I could not find anything about it. The other day my rx8 broke down. I was driving back from the beach and all of a sudden then rpm's shot up to around 7000, from between 3000-4000. I tried to shift down, but it didnt solve the problem, a little bit later the car has died and im on the side of the road. The car will no longer start.

So I have the car towed back to my dealer, where they are waiting with knowledge of the situation, talking about how my warranty is still good so it should be no problem.

I have a 2006 which I have had for 2 years, and has 31k miles on it. Im the only owner. They take the car back into the shop, and the service manager comes out about 10minutes later with a handful of what looks like black dust and fur. He says that because they found this in the clutch or wherever, that It is my fault and not a defect, and warranty will not cover it. Then quoted me a price of $1500 to fix it, finding time to tell me that my tired were bald and I needed new ones before I left with the car.

Now I dont race my car, drop the clutch, or abuse it when Im driving it. But they seem to claim that it is my fault the clutch gave out all of a sudden after 31k miles. Has anyone had to deal with this or heard anything similiar to a problem with the clutch and the warranty? Any suggestions?
