Check engine light for cat
Check engine light for cat
So i removed my cat and threw on a midpipe and the check engine light ensued. Is there any way i can erase the codes so the light will go off? Ive heard i can with a accessport but i dont have one of those.
Rear O2 sensor to be exact.
No... I'll just leave it at that.
Obviously
Obviously
you can get an actron code reader to erase the codes http://www.actron.com/product_category.php?id=249 ... but you will have to do it often. However, I have heard of people's codes coming back less frequently when they erase the codes often ... but I will believe it when I see it
The only way sure and proven way to keep it off is COBB. Unless, you are VERY well versed in OBD2, assembly, CAN, and Electrical Engineering AND are good enough to decompile the PCM's programming to get the routine responsible for secondary O2 readiness. Then you can either
A) hack your ECU to have the routine responsible for your CAT readiness to always pass (what COBB does - it turns "off" the monitor)
B) Figure out the method the PCM uses to check your secondary O2 circuit for CAT efficiency and build an "O2 simulator" accordingly. Unfortunately the RX8 uses a very sophisticated algorithm to check for the CAT working properly and regular off the shelf simulators will not do.
Finally, since you made this thread, I am going to assume that you are not well versed in those areas. In any case, you could have searched this forum for this information in further detail as this has been covered multiple times.
