Check Engine LIght?
I have a 2004 6spd. My check engine light has been on for a while now. It goes away every 20 or so days. I took the car to mazda and they tell me BS. I then took it to a local mechanic and he tried plugging the computer in to get the code. (using the top of the line computer) And it said "no connection". I believe i have a wiring issue but i was wondering if anyone else has had wiring problems to this extent. ??????

next step? call MNAO and complain that your dealer is giving you a run around, im sure they can do something to their dealers cant they? kinda like spanking a child?

the light will go off if the car is able to run a certain amount of cycles without replicating the problem again. (or something to that extent)
If your mechanic plugged it in and didn't get any codes it's because you can't read all of this car's code with an OBDII scanner. You'll need something like a Scanalyser or similar.
I would take it to a different dealership as soon as the light comes on and make sure they tell you which code they were able to pull up.

Jedi is correct, a CEL will self correct after a certain number of cold start cycles without recurrence of the problem. A very common code is the code for a minor evap leak which is usually caused by the gas cap not tightened or a bad/poorly sealing gas cap gasket.
Also correct in that you need a scanner that reads the new CAN bus. The OBDII will not read anything in the RX-8 ( I know because I have an OBDII reader and even though it plugs into the port the readout is "no connection") I bought a Harrison CANScan with RX-8 enhanced software to read. BTW, I believe in 2007 all manufacturers go to the CAN system. Ford and its affiliates went to the CAN system early, in the 2004 model year.
