I need to get to the charcoal canister which is located in the rear under the trunk. My car runs perfect but the check engine light is on because of that. I was told that mazda pretty much built the car around it. Has anyone done this or does anyone know a good or somewhat easy way to get it? Any help would be appreciated.

how do you know it's the charcoal canister...what code are you throwing?

 

i went down to my dealership and they said thats what it was. When my buddies and I were putting my suspension on my car I had to remove my subs and all of the other stuff i did in my trunk. when i was putting the sub box back in they said i drilled a small hole into the charcoal canister. i had no idea it was right under the trunk. the service guys told me its $321 for a new canister and $300 for the labor to install it. I would rather see if i can get to it and just close up that hole since nothing is wrong with my car.

 

I hope you didn't drill into the gas tank. It's back there too, ya know?
