I'll try to keep it simple for my 1st thread on the 8 club. I've searched but no luck.

Are the 4 port and 6 port center irons the same? Rebuilding a 4 port and need one.

 

Well I just checked the Atkins and Mazdatrix sites and they show different part #'s. Wonder if the difference is significant. Anybody have and idea?

 

they are different, i am putting a 6 port center plate in mine, but it requires some custom work, not a bolt in modification.

yes, it is significant. sure I mean a 4 port plate will work, its just that your AUX port becomes useless, don't even bother installing it cuz it won't go into solid metal.

even a 6 port plate would work on a 4 port build, depending on price and availability he can just use some metal putty and seal the aux port.

I might overlooked his question but, isn't it stupid to ask about 4/6 port when he is doing a 4 port rebuild .... obviously you need to get the same one. what sup with people these days ? sheesh.

 

actually it isnt, my 4 port being built now will be using a manual center plate, due to the manual center plate having a bigger exhaust port. The auto smaller exhaust port, has been the cause of alot of carbon build up, and going bigger would only help... plus abit of cleanup porting
