no CEL is normal . a FLASHING CEL is beyond not normal and in fact the manual says that a flashing CEL means take it to service immediatley!. not hearing the beep occasionaly is normal. it beeps but is so quiet that sometimes you are too busy paying attention to other things to hear it.

The bad flash sets a P0126 code and the CEL stays ON. (HP only)

Sounds like you may need to get the dealer to check your plugs and/or coils.

BTW the 34.10 does not have a new RX-8 flash.

a K&N causing a plug to misfire? if the plug misfired then there is something electrical wrong. it might be possible to foul the plugs if the ecu tries to over compensate with fuel due to the increased airflow. the things dealers will tell you!

This happened to me today. My 8 is in the shop. Dealer says its ordered a fuel runner and pump. The tech said it may need a intake.

I was in first gear at the fuel cut off once when the cel lit up and immediately went away when I let off the gas. I was driving to the dealer when it happened, on my saved up long list of things under warranty was the fact that sometimes under load the shifter vibrates kind of loudly at 9300 rpm. The dealer had to order the brake pads, the air conditioner part, and other stuff so the repair ticket is still open althoug I've had the car back for a month now. Regarding the vibration, the dealer said it doesn't go up to 9300, when I said the fuel cut isn't until about 9500 he said he'll let me show him when I come back with a test drive. They also said they drove the car and no rattles!

snap-on, I've moved 5-6 states away from my old dealer, can they somehow transfer the open ticket and the back-ordered items, or do I need to start from scratch with the local dealer?

If you take it in and they check for pending codes it will show RPM and load values in the "freeze frame data". If you went to the rev limit in your new car......

I vote for seeing if it happens again.

There is no solid connection between dealers as we have learned from the "good guy/ bad guy thread.

I see you are in St Louis now?

What dealer are you planning on using?

Just a thought, but I was driving today, accelerated hard to redline, and had my DCS/TCS light flash (right under about the 8 on the tach), it is also yellow. I'm curious if any of ya'll have had that happen and thought it was a CEL since they are both yellow, and I'm usually too busy watching the road to really get a good look at wether or not the light is a car skidding or and engine.

ok, i had a similar experience today. i was out showing the car off to someone and so had taken it for about a 20 min drive and hit 8.5-9k probably five times or so. drove back, dropped her off, all was good.

on my way home (about a seven minute drive) i was in the mood and took it up another two or three times. i was sitting at a stop light turning left, light turned green and i took off hard, but not too hard (i was nowhere close to burning rubber.) took it up to 8800 or so and went to shift into second, but as is becoming normal it didnt want to so i had to double clutch it. didnt keep accelerating while out of gear so i know i didnt come close to 9500 and the fuel shut off, but when i got it in second i noticed the cel flashing. couldnt pull over immediately so i got over and was about to pull in a driveway (probably 1/4 mi from where the cel started blinking) and it went off. drove it gingerly home and no problems.

only wrinkle is that i just got her back thursday from a deer incident and my radiator and condensor had to be replaced. no antifreeze smell or lights, but it does make me worry more than normal. any suggestions about taking it in?

ok, i got two flashing cels on sunday. i was about 70% of the way from columbus to cincinnati, so it was plenty warmed up. theres a big bridge and hill where you can see for a few miles ahead, so i was doing around 125. after i had made my run and was just starting to slow (120ish) the cel flashed for a few seconds. about fifteen mins later i had just gotten off the highway and was taking a highspeed corner (around 50 or so, its a gentile curve but ultimately 90 degrees) and it flashes again. took it in monday and it didnt store anything, but this is starting to bother me. car feels absolutly fine, great in fact. any ideas?

Were you, by chance, low on gas? Like less than 1/4 tank? I had my CEL come on a couple weeks ago when pushing hard through a near-90 degree turn with a low fuel level. The CEL didn't flash -- it just came on and stayed on, but then went away by itself after about 5 minutes. I asked the tech at the dealer (who seems to be pretty knowledgable....for a dealer tech), and he said there is nothing in their TSB system related to that, but he's heard the same thing from another '8 owner. He said not to worry about it at this point, but if it does it again, to call him back. Hasn't happened since, but I haven't been real low on gas since then either.

Here are all of my issues.. it's a lot of fun!!

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...9&page=7&pp=15

The last page is basically devoted to me... It continues onto page 8...

To answer your question. Yes you can get a flashing CEL when a constant CEL is on. I have had my CEL light on for the past few days and whenever my car goes over 80 mph, it flashes like clockwork.. It's really frustrating.. Like my posts have stated in the other thread, I will meet with the district rep next week to sort all of this out.
