Cel (p0446)

So I read the thread that lists all the CEL codes and what they stand for, but what I was wondering is if anyone else has had this CEL before, and if so what was done to fix it?

I'm going to bring it in to the dealership to have it checked out soon, but would prefer to go in with some kind of knowledge other than "Well, it says it's the evap. system."

I did the usual check the gas cap etc., and have reset the CEL a few times and it keep returning after two starts.

Nothing? Has no one else ever had this CEL crop up?

Hmm, that actually makes me worried something might be wrong outside of the norm. Guess I'll bring it to a dealership this week.

Yeah, I've had it checked three times now. It's def. a 0446 code, but it seems that although it's listed in our tech forum, I can't find a single example of someone having it other than myself.

Ok, got it back from the dealership. It was a "Bad leak detection pump", and replaced under warranty.

Leak detection pump is the Evap pump - it uses an electric pump to test the system rather than engine vacuum - measures the amperage draw from the pump to determine if there is a leak . Mazda has been using them on a few models for the last few years.
