hey guys, I did a bit of research, and im getting the p0037 Check engine light error...

ive done both of the following

1) With the key in the off position, press and hold the odometer reset button and turn the key to on;
Continue to hold the odo button until the odometer reads "TEST" and then release.
2) Turn the key to off and repeat step one.

This will reset the entire PCM except the KAM which contains the sensor profiles amongst other things. You can reset it with the familiar procedure:

1) Turn the key to on
2) Depress the brake pedal rapidly 20 times in a row until the oil pressure gauge sweeps to halfway and back again.


The light came on after i accidentally over filled the oil...ive gotten an oil change since ( at the dealer) and the light is still on, even after i cleaned the MAF sensor...like another thread suggested...

still have the CEL on, and cant get rid of it... I know now that it might be low voltage on the rear O2 sensor...

did you try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes?

 

Its an heater control circuit code, just get a new sensor and reset the pcm and it wont come back on. Basically after its warmed up it doesn't either read or read properly. When you get a new sensor make sure you take the old one with you, it has the part number on it so they don't give you the wrong one.....that also means locating the correct one to remove.

Does any one have a diagram, where the o2 sensors are located?

should i disconnect the battery or try replacing the O2 sensor right off the bat?

 

How many miles on your 8? I got the same P0037 at about 115,000 miles. Getting a new REAR O2 sensor (which is in the middle of the CAT) solved the problem.

Its not a part unique to the RX-8 so they might have it. I got mine from the net. Try www.rockauto.com I have gotten Mazda and other parts from them.

Omg guys, get a factory sensor......Don't go cheep on your a/f adjustment for emissions or a potential failed part! I recommend you take it to your dealer and just fork out the cash and get it done and said unless you can figure out which sensor it is and take it out.....go to a Mazda dealer match the part numbers up and put the new one in.

 

disconnecting the battery will reset the light till it detects a problem...replac ethe sensor and u will b good to go

 

When gutting my cat, i may have hit the sensor with a steel rod pretty hard, now im stuck with a p0037 code, and was wondering if buying a new sensor would fix the problem? Or is it coming on due to the gutted cat. Went from cat efficiency below threshold to this new one. Also would this p00037 be changing anything in the way the ECU is working? Done a few searches on this and noone seems to be the same boat as me so...
