CEL but car running smoother...!?

So I got a cel last night after getting onto the freeway. The weird thing is my car seems to accelerate smoother and idle smoother. I don't really notice a power loss. My exhaust isn't as loud though and poppy. I have a midpipe but it's spacered out. I hafthe spacers done a few months ago and that solved the cel prob. I don't have a code reader so don't know what the code is. Sorry. Any thouhts?

Did you put the spacers on the O2 bung? Maybe it's leaning out your fuel trims?

go to super autobac's (toyz) service center - have them read the cel code and post it up here so we can research it for you.

It's J, not P.

It's possible that it did leaned out a bit, we can't really say anything unless you can get the code read for us.

I wonder howuch the dealer charges to read a code...? And I might just go to the muffler shop that did the bungs. He said if I got a cel he'd just weld another on ther for me. Maybe I'll go there after work

O2 defoulers do not work on the 8. Hundreds of people have tried it on the forum but to no avail.

Basically what you're doing, trying to trick the O2 Bung into thinking that there's a cat. That will never work.

all it needs it one spike of a rich or lean mixture to throw the code. Cause the ecu is like waitttt a minute I'm doing everything the same but 02 sensor after the exhaust manifold just read the same as after the cat. WTFFFFFF Im throwin a code bizzzie.

Yea sooooo get your codes read, if you lived closer I'd do it for you. I finally got all the software I needed so I can read auto and manual trans.

Sooo the code I was throwing was slow response. It was the o2 sensor. Bit I think it's because I have a leak from my header to my mp. We put it on the lift and yup there's a leak. So I ordered a gasket from Mazda and it will be in sat.
