was having a few driveability issues with my 04 w/93k miles.... stumbling on take off from red lights and horrendous mileage *(13-14.5) so today i went to see a buddy who works at a muffler shop.. we removed the cat and installed a custom bypass or test pipe *(however you want to describe it)... installed a bung in it to retain the 02 sensor making sure to keep it the same distance from the front 02 sensor...

impressions over 24mile return trip through city traffic...

sound... negligable.. tiny bit louder and a slight burble on decel.. *(stock exhaust otherwise)

power.. noticable... much freer reving... MUCH freer...

smell.... nothing...

driveability... much improved... leaves redlight with less revving and clutch slippage...

gas mileage.. havent refilled yet as i still have a 1/2 tank.. BUT... gas gauge hardly budged on return trip... *(used 1/8 tank there...)

much easier starting *(mine started fine anyway)...

looked in cat after removal and it was clogging... not clogged... but well on its way... *(had heated up till it totally discolored the heat shield)...

i will report back after running a tank of fuel through it... but i think i am going to be happy with this...

thats what i run. expect to **** your neighbors off and people constantly telling you your car is loud. pop some flames.

 

did you install it urself or did u go to a mufflershop? how much did they charge u

 

i dont let ayone work on my car but me. its also a big plus that my brother owns a garage 5 miles from my house with a couple lifts and every tool you can think of.

 

Learned this the hard way, but hey it prompted me to go out and buy my own lift

 

i got it installed yerterday and the car is indeed loud as hell so i might get pull over because of that

 

Wish we could do that in NY.

 

In about a month I'm going Agency Power in cali. Cat delete?? Still debating. Lol
