car will not stay on when i come to a stop! help

i recently replaced my battery and now after i connected everything when i turn on the car.....the RPM drop so much that the car turns off. if the car is starting from a cold start the it starts ok but once im driving and i stop the car turns off. this is the second time this has happened when i unplug and plug the battery back....the first time it lasted about 2 days and then it just started working fine again. any suggestions???

fyi the car is an 04 rx8 with about 108K miles.

When you disconnect the battery the fuel trims get erased. you need few drive cycles until it relearns it. You can apply gas while you are stopping so it don't stall during this period.

^ yep. If it keeps stalling you have other issues.

I reset the battery on mine recently and it does the same exact thing. Well, it'll try to. On a warm engine when I crank it over it'll drop the RPM's down to 300-500rpm for a second or two and then go back to normal. Any time I've reset the battery it's done it, but after a few days it's back to normal.

Give it some time.

Have similar Problem

04' about 100K --- Plugs Changed last year --- Injen Intake every thing else stock. Parked car for Winter months (3) did not start it over the winter (stupid I know). Battery died Changed with 35 series Optima Battery. Now well driving over 3-5k rpms car dies all of a sudden there seems to be no loss of power just stalling once foot is taken of the gas to slow down or turn. Checked engine for codes nothing comes up. Battery shows Voltage of 12+ volts with car off and 14+ volts with car idling, so alternator should be fine.

Car will Idle fine but have similar charateristics of 9krp description of a dip then evening out.

Wondering if this is a fuel filter issue or electrical issue.

Do recall seeing something on RXclub page about a problem with stalling during left hand turns a good long while ago.

Any one with better info than dead engine would be greatly appreciated.

^Dead engine is actually the best info anybody has given you. Have a compression test done. Stalling at idle and hard hot starts are a 13b eulogy. The left turn thing is a fuel pump issue (check out www.blackhaloracing.com in the tech section on the fuel pump to get a good description. It's about 100$ for a compression test at the stealership. There have been many a thread about this.
