Can someone describe what spongy brakes

feel like? I just flushed the brake fluid in my 04 using speed bleeders. I've never done a brake flush myself and I'm pretty sure the brakes feel as they ought to, but I'd like to be sure.

A couple of tests: Sit in the car with engine off. Slowly push the brake pedal down hard and notice how far it goes down. Now pump it a half-dozen times. Does the down position come up? If it does, there's air left in the lines. Push down hard on the brake pedal and hold it for ~30 seconds. If the pedal slowly goes down, likely the master cylinder needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

I did bleed the MC twice - although I was not sure why this is necessary seeing as late 05's and onward don't even have a bleeder valve on the MC?

I will try the above test. I did notice this morning on the way to work that just tapping on the pedal lightly engaged the brakes.. so I would think if there was air it would require much more force?

Thanks. Unfortunately what began as a 1 hour "Oh I'll flush the brakes today" on saturday morning ended up being a 2 day affair because 3 of the 4 front caliper glide pins were seized. No amount of force or PB broke it loose.. had to get a torch and had to call half the auto stores in NJ to find the pins and boots.. sigh
