Blown engine question

Hey guys,

was driving along and experienced power loss and the eventual stalling of the engine. Couldnt start up and had it towed.

Codes thrown were p2069 and p300b - one was O2 sensor, the other was multiple misfires. Had to have it taken to mazda instead.

Mazda says, i probably need a new engine, but in order for MAZDA to stand by my warranty, i need to present them with verification that it has been maintained by giving them oil change records. Problem is i purchased the car at 82k miles and its now got 90k. I have MY records, but they want records from when the engine was originally replaced at 30K miles.

My question is - is this ok? Can they really say that if I can't present them with proof of oil changes from before i owned the car that this voids the "transferable" factory engine warranty?

Any information on the whole engine replacement process and what my rights are would be EXTREMELY helpful. Please let me know.

just keep bitching and call Mazda USA yourself and explain. You can't be expected to show records from before you owned the car. If you have your records that should be enough.

Yeah they cannot force you to produce what you do not have and they also cannot prove that there was a lack of maintenance. This whole wanting oil records thing is BS anyway, they didn't even ask me for records when they replaced my second motor. If you let them push you around they will. They extended the warranty to 100k, there is nothing in the warranty about multiple owners and having records of oil changes.

So everything worked out really well - They covered my engine under warranty and (once they got the engine, which was on back order haha) it was done in two days. Only took me a total of two weeks to get my car back on the road.

now I have a 1 year, 12k mile warranty on the new motor
