That is very true.
I dont know if people have had good long term results with just filling the cavity with poly? The design of these mounts is such that in the event of a major impact they will break a way and direct the engine under the car rather than thru the firewall. That is the reason the mm bolt does not go any deeper into the mount than it does. The part the bolt actually fits in is an ice cream shaped aluminum cone fitting that is surrounded by hard rubber. That part rests on top of the "soft" mount. It is my understanding that if you just fill the soft part with something harder then over time the top part of the mount will start to crack as it is not design to take the vibration and stress's of the engine without some give.
I have circumvented that problem by making a longer bolt/retainer set up that protudes into the area that is filled by the poly. These redirects all the vibration and stress's into the complete mount rather than just the upper part. It still should have the break away features intact as the washer etc is not THAT big and the poly in not that hard.
I have ran them for over 2 years now on my Pettit car. You can actually get by with just doing one mount and leaving the other one oem.
Like I said I dont have any personnel experince with just filling the bottom part. It is just something I 'heard". So I dont know for sure if this is a better way.

Anyone tried "Motor mount inserts". I'm not sure how viable this would be, they appear to be a couple of hockey pucks with the owner to figure out a way to jig them up.

SpeedSource runs 3 rotor 20Bs in their cars, on track. I would think they would eat through stock brackets regardless of the mount rigidity.

Corksport had the Mazdaspeed mounts on backorder - I will say they refunded my paypal account quickly.

So, I went with the Megan Units. The Dealer (Martin Mazda of Delaware) did the install for no additional cost while doing the engine exchange. The old mounts were long gone. I notice much less vibration than before. Of course since my old mounts were shot that isn't saying anything.
Meagan told me the mounts come with a 1 year warranty. They shipped them out really fast.

I purchased them a few months ago. They definitely remove some drivetrain slop. eg. imagine turning a sharp left from a stop and giving it a bit. Before it felt like the drivetrain didn't quite move with the car. Makes the turn in feel a bit crisper. It transmits a fair bit more vibration through the car and it doesn't feel as refined when at idle or accelerating normally. I do prefer the Megan mounts, but I wouldn't say it's a complete slam dunk - then again I suppose my OEM mounts weren't gone.

What is your opinion of the RR motor mounts? Also, did you get your service set up? You'd sell new mounts that you'd fill in personally and charge a lump sum or have people ship you their old mounts and charge for labor/parts? I'm interested if this offer is still up, I'd like to have a spare set in case I decide to take my rr mounts off, as it is I have no spare time right now and money is not an issue.

Almost 2 years- the megan mounts are still strong like day 1. But if I was dealing with it again- the Black Halo mounts would be my first choice in a heartbeat.

Has Anyone used or know if the manual megan racing motor mounts fit on an auto manual Rx8? been looking at them and can't seem to find performance motor mounts for an auto anywhere… need them bad and wanna get something better then oem, any other brands or anything?? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Fits automatic and manual. I'm not sure what is different about automatic motor mounts, but BHR doesn't see any problem with one mount for them both.

stock for stock, AT mounts are much MUCH "softer", I mean MUCH MUCH softer

if u have both in your hands you will be able to feel it RIGHT away.

size wise they are exactly the same. if you install AT mount on MT, the accel gonna feel a bit numb.
