Bad Stock Cat Symptoms?

I think I may have a bad cat since I have low power on low rpm (mainly on 1st and 2nd gear) and when I accelerate, my car hesitates to reach higher rpm. Any thoughts ?

Lack of power is indicative of a bad Catalytic Converter. Due to exhaust restriction.
After a nice spirited drive stick your head under the passenger side and look at the cat. Is it glowing red? It helps if this is done at night. Does it seem to be excessively hot to you?
Does your exhaust smell different than usual?
Is the PCM throwing any codes?

Did you experience a loss of power at higher RPMs before these symptoms came up? When a cat goes bad it will usually effect the higher RPM range, first. Plus, (IIRC) you recently installed a BHR Ignition System. Did you do this because your old coils were bad or because you were experiencing a loss of power prior to the swap? Bad coils often cause the cat to go bad, too.

I replaced the coils because mine were worn out bad. I don't remember having loss power in the higher RPM range but as Easy said, my car does get really hot, I can feel it in the cup holders area lol..Does white smoke in morning start ups bad ?

Without getting into the details too much (unless you really want to know), I think it is safe to say your cat is wasted.

I was telling "dreamtheatermetallica" the other day of how I prefer that BHR customers do their own work and allow me to guide them over the phone, if necessary, as it seems too many technicians these days are lackluster (at best) and people are better off learning this stuff for themselves.

Just curious; did he pull you over because of the exhaust sound or because of the exhaust odor?
