Auto Leveling Headlight Malfunction switch

Hey all, when i turned my car on the other day and when i turned on the headlights, a warning light came on saying that there was an auto leveling malfunction. I waited for the light to go off like all the other lights but it didn't. I have an 04' Rx8 Grand Touring. The beam pattern and height were fine but i was wondering if i should even bother to have the auto levelers fixed and if so how much does that usually cost assuming i need new ones.

If you're under warranty, take it to the dealer!
Here is the TSB for it:

When mine failed, the lights slowly started to lower the angle down to the point I only had roughly 6ft of light in front of me (which is scary doing 70MPH).

If you're out of warranty, here is a link to a DIY for rebuilding the sensor:

Good luck!

I think so. I know someone made a thread regarding a manually adjustable setup that I ran across once, but what I found is that it's the same sensor that's used on the Prius and several other Toyota and Lexus cars and maybe a couple Nissan. The only difference is the brackets. You can buy the sensors extremely cheap on Amazon. I think mine were $44 something for two, shipped with Prime. $21.99 each I think before tax? They're probably knock-offs, but they work. At $22 each, though, who cares? You can replace them MANY times for the price of OEM ones and probably have a total lifespan far longer for the sensors by the time you hit the same cost.

Yep that's the one. It's been a while and I couldn't remember exactly where I saw it.
