For anyone who has Cel p0661

I got a code on my car recently and it's been going on and off I thought it was a code for oxygen sensor since I have no cats and straight pipes back so I never really got it checked until today I drove down to autozone on the way home got it checked and found out it was p0661. So I searched and found out that it was either a connection or my valve what's stuck shut. Anyways I always work on thinks myself first with the help of DIY on this forum of course so I figured I'd let people know how I fixed the problem. I took upper intake manifold off the throttle body intake box out. I look down at the way and tried to move it and it wouldn't although it wasn't really that dirty. Any who I took all of the solenoid connections off and sprayed with carbon cleaner along with blasting the valves with b12 chemtool to get them nice and clean and the valve could actually move when I was done I put everything back together drove it and within one driving cycle the code had dissapeared.

And apologies for my long description

I did this as well. The SSV was stuck in there good. Anybody know if the P0661 could cause starting issues eventually leading to no start?

Yeah you can actually flood the engine by spraying to much carbon cleaner in there.. Follow a deflooding procedure

Thumbs up

I had the p0661 code as well. Turned out that was the main code but from that there was a smaller code. One of the solenoids had failed so bought the part from Mazda for $105, had to test each solenoid using volt meter. Replaced it ran a self check and car runs great.

I am having a very difficult issue right now. I am getting no vacuum and all of my valves are not closing or opening, they are just stuck. I am getting the P0661 code as well.. My car is now getting terrible gas mileage and I have lost all power.. Can anyone help?

Yes, I can help.

Test all the solenoid valves first, to see if they are working, are receiving electrical signal, and vacuum.

When you confirm the solenoids work, then you can move on to the valves being stuck issue.

First thing to try with the valve is to connect a hand actuated pump to the line that runs to the valve, and pump it. Usually it opens around 10 inches of mercury.

If the valve doesn't open, then you need to remove it, clean it, reinstall it, and then retest it. Search on the forum for the thread with the videos that show you how to test and R&R the SSV valve.

You know how to search, because you found this thread.

BC.
