I've searched and found some short threads on this from a long time ago, but have not heard of any results...

Has anyone found a way to use your keyless remote for window control? Basically I'd like to add the ability to open or close the windows without having to go in and turn the key etc., and just use the remote to do so. Anyone know anything about this?

 

Ive never heard of it being done with the factory remote, all though there was talk about moding it so the panic button would do this. I dont think it was ever done though. You can however, get an aftermarket alarm that could do this, no 100% sure it would work with the 8, but cant think of a reason why it wouldnt. Compustar makes some kick *** systems. Plus its a good investment for your car.

 

It can be done if you know the specific CAN commands and how to program them into the module s/w. But I doubt anyone outside Mazda knows that.
Can be cracked with some CAN sniffing, analyzing the CAN massages, trial and error, etc.
I'm able to log all the CAN traffic in the car, send commands to the PCM, but they are in plain hex code and I don't know anything about it. I'm just playing.

You have wireless control of your windows? How did you go about doing this? The only link I saw was to auto up and down windows, but not remote-operated. I think I may get a laptop connection for my car so I can start messing around with stuff that I shouldn't be playing with.

 

Nevermind- read the entire thread. You used an aftermarket alarm system. Hm... I'm sure it can be done with factory. I would assume you'd have to splice the windows into whatever wire sends remote signal to the locking system. That alone would give you auto-up when you lock your car (so long as you install auto-up on both windows). I'd like to do more research into how to program the remote module. Anyone know stuff about this?
