any tips for a rookie ?
Hi guys and thanks in advance. I have just purchased a 04 (231) rx8 and was wondering if you could suggest any tips on avoiding problems. I did some homework and realise oil etc are important with this model but am more concerned with flooding it when away from home by not driving it properly. Is there anything you would do differently if you just bought your 1st rx8? Any tips/suggestions are greatly appreciated, many thanks!

1.) Check the oil. It's not that bad, just check it every couple of fill-ups.
2.) Anytime you start it, make sure it warms up before shutting it off. Let the stupid temp gauge at least get to it's normal positioin.
3.) Redline it once or twice during every drive if possible.
Guess since you have an o4, I'd make sure it has the 4206F recall. Look on the underside of the hood near the front edge and see if you have a blue/white sticker that says so.........if not, I'd probably make sure it's been done.

Extraordinary Engineering
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the 8!
Good advice above.
At least two of us have had an airbag light caused by the connectors under the passenger seat.
Check the motor mounts for cracks.
Immediate check-engine-light (CEL) on the 04 is usually caused by the gas cap leaking.
Do you have any plans to modify it?
Have fun. Good luck.
