alternator question

Is the 8s alternator internally regulated?
Is it a good idea to run a fused 0awg wire from alternator to batery, along with a ground kit?

The reason I ask is I'm upgrading my AV system pretty exstensivly and just trying to get the most out of it that I can. (I already have a new yellow top, just saying because I know id get that suggestion)

Thanks in advance
