CA alignment question

i went to mazda dealer they did oil change for me... a lot smoother ^O^

but i want to ask is..
they also do a free alignment inspection for me...

here is the report...

steer axle - 0.8 mpg

5.0 ft/mi

passed

rear axle - 0.8 mpg

-30.0 ft/mi

marginal

passed: up to +/- 15.0 ft/mi

marginal: +/- 15.0 ft/mi up to +/- 30 ft/mi

failed: over +/- 30 ft/mi

....so how bad is that?? is it serious problem?? or something??

i ask the dealer he said nothing really major don't really have to fix it....

Very odd units in that report. Do you know what the "mpg" stands for? I presume the ft/mile numbers are just a different way of expressing toe-in angles.

But there isn't enough data in that report. An alignment should check camber and toe for every wheel, caster for the fronts, total toe at both ends, steer ahead in front and thurst angle at the rear. Looks like all you've got is total toe at each end.

Personally I wouldn't be thrilled about any number that's marginal. If you've got good tires on the car and want them to last, it would be worth paying for a proper alignment.

Yep, that means the alignment goes out of wack every 8/10ths of a mile per gallon.

$70 to $150. Be careful about asterisks in the price. A few years ago I took my Honda to a Midas place where they had a big sign saying $90. When they brought the bill, it was $120. Honda was one of the "some models extra" cars, probably because of the flux capacitor.

Not sure what my local Mazda dealer's regular price is for alignment, but they always have a coupon for $90...no asterisk for the 8.

With new tires, you should get an alignment soon. And find a place that measures degrees or mm, not mpg.

wtf is "mpg" doing in an alignment test ?

next is what? vtec y0 in the compression test ? VVT-i in vacuum test ?

hmm ... even if Im u, I would do the alignment somewhere else, most shop with Hunter equipment will do Alignment back to factory spec for maybe 80 bux.
