I am just wondering how hard is it and how much to install DSC/Traction control on my 04 mt base rx-8. There have been some close calls where DSC and traction control would have come in really handy!! Anybody?

anything is possible. switch ecu, add LSD diff, wiring, switch sensors, done deal.

 

so, i might can bring it back to the dealer and ask them to install it? i am going to call them today.

 

Just curious but what kind of close calls are you talking about? Because better tires and better driving are a significantly better solution then DSC.

 

lets just say that, wet road+not so good tires+coming out of turn a little too fast= close call

 

The Base model already has a Limited Slip Differential. It is just a matter of putting the Traction control package on the ABS, and I have no idea if that is really possible.

Personally, driving around without the TC/DSC on the car for 74K miles, I have never really felt the lack of it, but each to their own.

 

Its not impossible. but ..

They have to switch almost EVERYTHING in the car. most annoying part is the ECU.

Not to mention dealerships will not be able to do it. they dont have the required skills.

You might as well just trade it in and get another one, is cheaper and safer that way.

Yup, that's your best and smartest option, however, I reiterate that having driven the car for 74K miles without traction control, it really isn't that bad. Get new tires and see how it goes. I mean you said in your OP that the tires were worn. I would start there. It is a lot easier to accomplish than retrofitting an invasive system like traction control.

 

yeah,,, new better tires are my next option.
