Actual oil pressure gauge?

Hi,

Among the many projects I'm feverishly trying to finish before the start of the season is a set of gauges I've installed on the dash. One is an oil pressure gauge. I'm curious what the pressure will actually look like when the car is running.

I ask, because I also decided to install an FD oil pressure regulator, which increases the oil pressure to 110psi. The gauge, haha, only reads to 100psi. Is it just going to be pegged at all times, or will it rise with engine speed?

Thanks!

If it reads 100psi all the time something isn't right. But yeah at high RPM, 110-130psi is normal. I'm not sure on the FD oil pressure regulator.

The gauge should rise and fall slightly with engine speed. You'll see slightly more pressure when the engine is cold versus when its at normal operating temperature. As far as pressure goes, I couldn't tell you with the FD oil pressure regulator. Is the gauge mechanical or electronic?

OMG, Nick... Surch u n00b!

I swapped a real oil pressure sender and gauge into my NA Miata and remember watching it dance in response to RPM.

From what I've read, oil pressures at warm idle are in the 15-20 psi range with 5w-20 and I don't see why an oil pressure regulator would change. The regulator just increases the upper limit of the pressure range and increasing that shouldn't significantly affect the lower range.
