Synchro going
[QUOTE=red_rx8_red_int]I have a dilemma. <snip>Could it mean the synchro is going out? /QUOTE]
I would venture to say yes...
[QUOTE=red_rx8_red_int]
Is this the symptoms of that? /QUOTE]
Those are the same symptoms I had.
[QUOTE=red_rx8_red_int]
Or more to the point, is it less costly to do nothing and just don't shift into 3rd at high rpms, or should I have this looked at now? /QUOTE]
A problem like this doesn't get better with time. If funds are low, try a synthetic transmission oil. This will buy you some time, oh yeah, don't shift at high rpms is it can be avoided.

On another note a red rx8 tried to race me on my bike today.... I hope it wasn't anybody on this forum because the rx8, 350z, vette, cobra, porche, ferarri, etc have literally 0% chance against a zx14 up to 186mph.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just going to not shift at high rpms for a while. And then just avoid third all together. I really really want a turbo, and don't want to spend on a repair. The wife can't complain about spending money on repairs as much as she can about discretionary spending on a turbo. So turbo first and the heck with needing 3rd, IMHO. LOL.

If I'm on the highway above about 5K, 4th to 5th or 6th to 5th feels crunchy (like going from 2nd to 1st at 15mph, with the clutch pushed in) - not too bad, but not the snick/snick I get in other gears - going in for my 40k service today - we shall see what it brings... I'm also experiencing rough idle, not teeth rattling but rougher than it was, motor mounts probably loose or need replacing.
