4th Gear Pinging

I'm interested to know if I'm the only one who has this problem. Basically, the car (6-speed) runs great in every gear except 4th. At almost any speed in 4th, the engine seems to be "pinging" (a metallic sound). Move to third or to fifth and the noise stops.

Any suggestions?
