Lightbulb 35 mpg rx8

I read this article and i dont know if this has been posted or negated by fellow rotarist. So i would like to know if this can be done. Heres is the article link

http://www.rotaryeng.net/RX8-TC-eng3.html

In short the article is suggesting to put an additional smaller rotor in order to get better gas mileage. In his postulation, putting a smaller rotor would be used in highway cruising situations whilst having the two larger rotors immobile.

From the looks of it, they are making a larger shaft. I dont see how the third rotor would fir in the housing becuase their isnt any room. Well im not the expert in rotaries, but saw it interesting. Not a bullet proof solution but i think it could be adapted. If we have a different housing for the third rotor, are we going to need additional fuel injectors? From my understading each housing has its own fuel feed.

I can see what they're showing but I don't know if I quiet see it happening.....I'd take 3 rotors but only from a 20B being in my 8!....

ppl are too worried about gas mileage in the US.....you get to pick the car you want and can drive ANYTHING you want so if ppl are worried about gas mileage buy something that is fuel efficient....me I don't really care I'm happy with 18-20 mpg

I am not really happy with it, but willing to deal with it for the total package lol.

The OP sounds like an active fuel management type system for our cars. Would it not be possible to shut off one rotor at cruising speeds instead of adding a third rotor?

That website has always been full of lots of good information. However, there have also been many far fetched ideas that aren't really practical too.

Something that works great on paper doesnt mean it will work in real world.

i would imagine that u would have to make a new eccentric shaft, a new housing with a new rotor, and programming the computer or make a switch to turn that on. i dont know how viable that would be, but some one mentioned to turn one rotor off and i think that is more of a practical solution

Not really..

I guess you could program the ECU to remove spark and fuel from one rotor, but it would still require work to spin it, which is what will happen, seeing as how they're both on the same shaft..

What keeps them from doing what this other design does, which pretty much packs one e-shaft inside the other?
