192 ? 231 ?

What is the difference between the 192 and 231 bhp engines in the rx8 as they both seem to be 2x658cc rotors in both models so what makes the high power version have 231 bhp when as far as i know they are the same engine

any answers would be greatly appriceated

The number of intake ports. The low power engine has 4 ports, the high power has 6 ports. Less air can get in for combustion. In North America, the 4 port low power engine was only offered with the automatic transmission. This was also rev limited to 7500 rpm. Where as the high power 6 port can rev to 9000. More revs, more HP.

There are no 4-port Series II motors as far as I know.

So, not only was it a newb maneuver to ask such a relatively easily searched question, but you put it in the wrong place.
