Hi, today i went to the movies, once I lef t the movies my CEL came on?
Weather condition-rainy
Fuel-full
Miles-14,055
So now what could of caused the CEL to turn on, did anyone get a CEL at 14k.
I am taking it to the dealer first thing in the morning, anyone hade this problem or can give an advice.

 

You say "Fuel-full". Does that mean you filled the tank just prior to the CEL? If so, the gas cap may not be sealing which would cause a CEL. Check to confirm that the cap is on tight and go through a few startup-shutdown cycles to see if the CEL goes out before taking it to the dealer.

 

my first thought as well^ evap test failure. please tell us what the code was.

 

Took it to the dealer today first thing in the morning, check engine is still on, dealer wouldnt wanna work "we have no mazda techs today, and no computers for the car" so I asked them is there a way they can just pull up the code "no we are busy, well we have the computer to check it but ther is no time we're busy" 3 cars in the shop hmm....? Well I did take it to a different dealer for the first time and thats what I get, so monday I am taking it in the morning to where I got the car originally. I still have the CEL on and the fuel is down to a three quarters. The only thing on my mind is..... I was cleaning the engine bay of the car by hand, maybe I moved a cable or sensor but I doubt it. I also tried pulling a code at my friends shop but his scanner only went up to 2003. I will check the fuel cap......thx, was there an issue with the rx8 and its fuel at 14k? I hope its nothing bad thx again.

 

I have less than 10K on mine. Have had the cat replaced twice. Just got an intermittant flashing CEL this week. I thinks I may be starting life with a new cat when I take it in again.
