13b renesis into a 323f Astina BA

Hello i'm new here. My name is Pascal Bulters. I'm from the netherlands.
I have a question:
I want to start a difficult project on my mazda 323f astina. I want to put a 13b renesis in it. I wil make it FWD.
I think i can't use the stock ECU because then I get error codes.
I think I need a computer that can take over all signals. Electronic throttle body, instrument panel, etc.
Does anyone know what I could best use?
I can buy one but do not find exactly know what you can set.

Can anyone tell me what ECU I need?
Is it possible without modifications to fit a turbo?

I hope you give me some help.

Kind regards,

Pascal

With no trans/driveshaft tunnel that would be fun.

Does anyone know if the throttle body from a rx7 FD fits on a rx8 engine?
I must get rid of the electronic throttle body.

Does anyone have some experience with the VEMS stand alone ECU's?

x1000000000 just find a rear ended srt-4 and swap that motor and tranny into your car. it would be faster although not rotary. and likely be cheaper.

i dont know anything about autronic and have only read about the adaptronic. that one for the 8 works in a piggy back fashion. not what i would prefer.

the motec does everything you want including the drive by wire throttle.

why cant you tune it in europe?

yes i know the men how did this. It's 12a engine for the matra murena. Middle engine. I found also a honda civic with a 13b in it. .@zoom44: the motec is difficult because there are almost company's who can map them in the netherlands. I found almost the same ecu called vems pnp. It's cheaper. The company said that it is not easy with a electronic throttle body and prefer a cable.

Yeah, one of the first mazda rotarys was fwd, I've seen honda civic 13b swaps also.
I strongly considered this for my 1967 Austin 1100 and was overwhelmed on how ridiculous it was to set up and the cost is tremendous. I have since found a set of FD subframes, I am going to get a chassis builder to make a frame out of it, body drop the car (minitruck style) on the frame, I cut the tunnel out of a rx7 to save some fab time + JIC Magic coilovers and my budget is much less than a fwd conversion....and I will have a 1/4 mile rotary. Food for thought.

Also check DTA computers, they are pretty reliable and allow for alpha-n tuning. Not the best solution in the world but a good compromise if you don't want to run a MAF sensor and a drive by wire throttle body.

A motec would still be better, cheaper options like haltec's rotary lineup may work too.

Sorry I don't. ECUs represent a rather delicate subject so taking risk with less known products is not the best option for most.

Also keep in mind that, hardware part aside, the software is just as important. Reliable tuning softwares like those found on most "good" ecus are a must when dealing with complex engines. In our case the split ignition (leading\trailing), staged intake (3 valves), 6 injectors and the presence of a stepper motor driven OMP require a pretty good software and a fairly advanced pcm.
Then add the MAF based stock system to the mix

This is the reason why it was nearly impossible to make an engine work well with a turbocharger if the ECU of choice was a microtec

In your case you should study how our engine works, make a list of the "must have" features and shop accoringly.
If you PM me your email I can send you some motec related documents that may make your research a bit easier. They are too big to be uploaded here.

ok thanks foor your information.
I contacted VEMS ecu in the netherlands and they said to me that they can make the engine run with warranty. I make the wiring myself.
Today a bought a complete rx8! Just for the parts..

That's a lot of work to get an FWD rotary.
I'm more curious about the justification for that route.
The Lantis is very cool looking, handles well, and is light... but why FWD?
