100 octane fuel in my 8??? safe/unsafe.... plz help
Hello,
I just stopped at a shell gas station and they have 100 oct racing fuel... was just wondering if that was safe to run in my stock 8. I know that it will probably run hotter than the 92 oct i normally use. please help i am a sponge fill me with your information!
thanks everyone,
Jeff

hmmm - the only 100 octane fuel I'm familiar with is 100LL used in light aircraft. The "LL" stands for "low lead." It's tinted blue to distinquish it (not taxed) from road fuel (which is taxed).
Anyway, if it is 100LL, the lead would not be good for your catalytic converter (assuming you still have one)... Don't know what other effects it might have on the engine.

If its unleaded it would be fine to use, there are plenty 100 octane unleaded blends out there.
You might make slightly more power(5-10hp) depending on how your car is setup to run.
