Does anyone know why the 2006 rx8 is rated at 232 hp instead of 238 hp?

 

The SAE rules changed on how horsepower is measured.. Some cars went down, some cars went up.

There was a thread about this a while back, if you want more info do a search on this.

 

The car has the same horsepower it has always had. The rating system doesn't.

if i were to rate our rx-8 it would actually be around 220 hp. considering most of the cars only dyno ~180whp.

 

a 3g eclipse gts is rated @ 210 hp... dynos @ 180whp. Our cars are rated 238hp (now 232hp) and puts down 180whp. Can't trust anything but 0-60 and 1/4 mile times now. :/

well i guess i shouldn't have used the icon. I kinda didn't care the car "got weaker" lol i figured that the car had its horsepower restated as a lot of other companies had the same problem, when they changed the rules.

Is the eclipse FWD?

 

The rear end (differential) isn't the most efficient thing in the world. It is way overbuilt.

 

the faster you try to spin something, the more friction and inertial losses it has as well...
