Is the car new? I mean...did you buy it new? I usually rev to 1.5krpms...and slowly lift up on the clutch...I learned stick shift on this rx8...and yes it was hard in the beginning...I jerked so much...now I only do it a few times a month. Try going to a parking lot...putting it in first gear....dont touch the gas at all...and just gradually lift the clutch up...does your car go?

Perhaps you are being too liberal with the revs and causing the TCS to trigger the rear brakes?

Sound like Hesitate/Hiccup. There's must be something wrong with the car (ignition, MAF sensors, intake, etc).

I occasionally experience this when engine is still cold in the morning. When you're in 1st, step on the gas when rpm < 4k, the car just hesitated (rocking back and forward). To avoid this, you will need to go light/back off on the throttle until the engine fully warmed. Look like the engine is dumping excessive fuel when cold. That is with M Level flash I had. I just recently completed the recall that bring it to the T flash, no more hiccups, or at least I have not experienced any yet.

Perhaps there is an after market filer installed? I removed the intake screen and installed the K&N filter in the OEM box and you don't even know it's there.

Jack-rabbit start is always bad for any car. Make sure the temperature gauge is, at least, close to the middle before you do any hi performance stunts; otherwise, you are in for lots of wear and tear ... with $$$ repairs down the road.

It probably needs to be warmed up before you gun it. It's got a cold-temperature rev-limiter - for a damn good reason, too.
