What do I do now?

So finally i got my car yesterday, 05 rx8-auto fo sho. Im not sure what to put in it, after reading all the threads it seems as though mazdaspeed products really do not help performance for the money. However I do not want to do anything stupid that could mess my car up so if anybody could give me direction. My buddy has a v6 Mustang with i/e and we are pretty much tied i won once and he won twice but its always close so I figured just a small amount of work would put me on top, Thanks

I have an 04 RX-8 auto. So far i have installed the racing beat exhaust, green drop in air filter, mazsport spark plug wires( if you change the wires by mazsport's), mazsport cooling mod, mazsport int-x(dyno tuned by scott from mazsport and got an extra 20rwhp), and a performance transmisison upgrade by level ten.

Congrats on the car and welcome to the forum.
There really aren't any big improvements for straight line performance other than forced induction. The RX8 isn't a drag racer and never will be. If you really want to kill his Mustang then head out to the local track!

And...........Invasion08, while I have the RB catback and really like it, it's much heavier than stock!

True it is heavier but thats the only down fall. fitment, looks, and sound are awesome

Since you dont want to mess up your car i would go racing beat intake and duct, rx7.com highflow cat, racing beat exhaust or there single outlet exhaust if weight is an issue, Mazsport spark plug wires and cooling mod.

Alright, ill look into racing beat intake but i just got extended warranty so if i put that in and my taillight goes out are they going to be like omg...ur intake messes up ur electrical stuff? im sure they would try to get out of anything so thats why i figured i might just stick w/ mazdaspeed stuff even though its incredibly expensive

My dealer had no issue with either my Revi intake or my RB exhaust. As a matter of fact, the master tech came and asked me some questions about it as he was just very interested in how I liked them and where purchased. All the techs came over for a detailed look....this was about 1 1/2 years ago.

Pretty much just sound on both counts. It might feel better, but the reality is you aren't going to gain over 3-5hp on either one............if even that!

If you want performance, you made a big mistake buying the auto.

The 4.77 rear gear has given me a noticeable performance increase on my 05 AT. Not huge gains, but noticeable improvement in low end acceleration and throttle response. It will lower your top speed a bit, but unless you are trying to run 125+ that doesn't really matter. It will also lower your highway fuel economy by a small amount. However, I've found 4th gear to be a bit more usable since putting this on, so you save some gas around town there. Plus I figure it helps you get up to speed more efficiently, and accelerating from a stop seems to be where you suck the most gas (at least according to my scangauge), so i figure this might actually help around town a bit. Haven't really noticed any significant before/after mileage difference.

The Mazmart water pump also seems to free up a small amount of high end power. Didn't necessarily get it for that reason, but it is a nice bonus.

Other than those, only other mod I know of currently that will improve performance is FI. The main company that is supporting 4ATs at this point for that is Pettit Racing.

The only thing besides going FI that will give you 20-30rwhp is the int-x which cost money and you need to get it fine tuned for your car. I have the int-x on my car and a few of us flew scott up from mazsport to dyno and street tune our cars. You can def feel the power increase and now with the upgraded tranny i can beat up on it. Also my car is now tuned for 87 octane
