Trans Cooler Question

How do most of you guys hook up your cooler. Do you still have it running through the radiator or by-passed it completely? Would bypassing the radiator make your engine run cooler? Or do you have both radiator and cooler hooked up together?

Looks like the Radiator insulator is used is cold climates and the Oil by-pass kit is used to cool things down in hot climates. I live in a HOT climate.

Did you read the whole thread or only that one sentence?

Do most people hook up there after market trans cooler(The one that goes in the front of the radiator/AC condenser) and still use the oem cooler(In the radiator) or just disconnect the oem cooler and just use the after market trans cooler?

I believe that most would plumb the aftermarket cooler in after the OEM at cooler. You can do it either way really.

Thanks for the link!

I was just wondering if I just ran the after market cooler alone then all the radiator would have to do was cool water and not both ATF and coolant.

ON your radiator that is correct. I don't remember if that is the same setup the oem rad uses.

I have a heymee (sp) transmission cooler i was wondering if that woulf fit the at 8 thanks guys, obviously a rotary noob.I am going to call mazda about the misinformed info provided by the salesman im sure nothing will come of it.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated for hp gains with, the cobb ,midpipe ,exhaust,intake and possibly a pully ??

hp != whp

Everyone here will talk about whp since that's what we can measure. Manufacturers all talk about hp, which is before drive train losses.

I will show some love. Here are pics of how mine is setup.

It is a Re-amemiya AT cooler (I suggest buying a cheaper one) that is custom mounted in the front. However, a BHR radiator should work well too.

No not really. I'm just happy to know some of my testing lead to this change for the better.
