A/T with leather shift boot pics

For those A/T owners that are thinking about replacing the plastic hard shift gate with a leather shift boot--here are pics of my setup. Stock A/T **** with the redline goods leather&tan stitch boot.

Looks like it could be a manual!
A freind of mine had a Stratus I think it was, and he did something like this. I got in to drive him home from a bar (he had to much) and saw the shifter. Then I started looking for the clutch. Had me confused for a few seconds.

I like it.

Thanks for the comments--I got the boot from Trussville for the standard M/T, its like $50 or so; then Redline Goods started making these after I had already gone the OEM route. I ordered the redline goods unit (Polak is distributing them as well) and it was plug and play. You do need the base from the OEM M/T boot to go onto the Redline Goods unit though--so unless you can sweet talk the parts counter you may have to order the OEM boot as well. Its well worth it--the quality of the OEM boot is inferior to that of Redline Goods leather.

Question

I wish I could cut about an inch to an inch and a half off the stock shift lever to lower the shifter. The shift **** just looks too tall sitting on the stick. Has anyone cut their shift stick and retain using the stock shifter? I have the red/black leather one.

TIA...

Wow, talk about digging up an old thread

The previous owner of my AT 8 did this, and everyone thinks my car is a manual.
Looks like he just pulled up the center console, fed the leather boot through, and re-attached the center console.

No different than modding a m/t to make it look faster than it actually is

wowowowowowow, i'm tired of that word.

I don't think they're worried, it's all for looks. No big deal. I actually wish my mt had the autolook, kinda like ferrari's that have the tracks of the gears showing.
